JOE ICONIS
is a writer and performer. He is a creature of Manhattan. He can usually be spotted in the bar rooms, piano halls, and show palaces of the city he loves with all his beastly heart.
He is the author of Bloodsong of Love: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Spaghetti Western (Ars Nova), The Black Suits (book co–written with Robert Maddock; SPF @ The Public Theater), ReWrite (Urban Stages, Goodspeed Opera House Festival of New Artists), and Theaterworks USA’s The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks and We The People (The Lucille Lortel Theater, National Tour).
His concert act, The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree, frequently plays The Laurie Beechman Theater and Joe’s Pub. The 2-Disc Original Cast Recording of Things To Ruin, Joe’s theatrical rock concert, is available on Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight records.
He has been nominated for two Drama Desk Awards, a Lucille Lortel Award, and is the recipient of an Ed Kleban Award, a Jonathan Larson Award, a Nightlife Award and a MAC John Wallowitch Songwriting Award.
Joe is deliriously inspired by Robert Altman, Dolly Parton, Martin Scorcese, Sardi’s, The Rolling Stones, whiskey, The Muppets, and The Family of artists he frequently surrounds himself with.
